R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, M. Annette Cluff has been named as a recipient of the
  Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community, and her
  selection for this honor is indicative of the positive effect she
  has had on the lives of her fellow citizens; and
         WHEREAS, An educator and entrepreneur, Mrs. Cluff is the
  founding director and president of The Varnett School; she holds a
  bachelor's degree in mathematics and education from Fayetteville
  State University and a master's degree in computer science from New
  York University; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of 23 years, Mrs. Cluff's visionary
  guidance has enabled The Varnett School to grow from 10 students to
  more than 1,000 pupils; it received its open enrollment charter
  from the state in 1998 and continues to receive honors and awards
  for excellence; Mrs. Cluff has also received a number of accolades,
  including the Pinnacle Award for Outstanding African American
  Entrepreneur, the E-10 Award for Top 10 Emerging Entrepreneurs, the
  Black Achievement Award, and the Outstanding Contributions in
  Education Award; and
         WHEREAS, By taking a proactive role in her community, Annette
  Cluff has rightfully earned the respect and admiration of her
  family, friends, and neighbors, and her receipt of this award is
  indeed well deserved; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate M. Annette Cluff on her receipt of
  the Audrey Lawson Impact Award for service in the community and
  extend to her best regards for continued success in all her
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Cluff as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
