R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, In decades of service to Bell County in his ongoing
  involvement in regional civic issues, Albert P. Gonzales has
  established himself as a caring and dedicated individual who has
  made significant contributions to improving the quality of life in
  Central Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Albert P. Gonzales is a well-known leader in the
  Hispanic community in Central Texas and is an activist who works
  faithfully and diligently in efforts to level the playing field in
  order that everyone is treated fairly in all matters; and
         WHEREAS, Albert P. Gonzales is a founder and first president
  of Killeen LULAC Council 4535 and past district director of
  District 17 of the State of Texas LULAC, and he is also a life member
  of the Hispanic American Cultural Society and a life member of the
  Knights of Columbus Council 4724 of St. Joseph's Parish in Killeen;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales entered the U.S. Army as a draftee in
  1951 at the start of the Korean War; he received orders upon
  graduation of the Army Language School in Korean to proceed to Korea
  as an interrogator of prisoners of war, defectors, line crossers,
  and deserters; and
         WHEREAS, Later he returned to study the Persian (Farsi)
  language at the U.S. Army Language School in Monterey, California,
  and later received his bachelor of science degree from Central
  Texas College and a master of science degree from American
  Technological University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales, three months after retirement from
  serving his country, was appointed as an adult probation officer by
  the 27th Judicial District judges in January 1978, and upon
  reaching the age of 65, he retired after many years of faithful
  service to the department; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales became one of the first licensed
  multi-language interpreters in the State of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Gonzales has used his training and native
  languages of Spanish and English to enable minority voices to be
  heard before U.S. district, county, and municipal courts,
  councils, and commissions; and
         WHEREAS, Supported by his wife, Rosa Kim Gonzales, and his
  children, Alexander, Anna, Albert, Ambrose, Angela, and Anthony, he
  provided many decades of valuable service to Central Texas
  residents, and his contributions to efficient and effective
  government in Bell County are truly deserving of recognition; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Albert P. Gonzales for his many
  contributions to Bell County and the greater Central Texas region
  and extend to him best wishes for future happiness and success; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Gonzales as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
