R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Melody Michelle Swinnea of Weslaco is in the |
|
|
thoughts and prayers of many people as she continues to make small |
|
|
but hopeful steps toward recovery from an accident, and a |
|
|
fund-raiser is being held on April 28, 2007, to assist her family |
|
|
with expenses related to her care; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The former Melody Pursley was born in McAllen on May |
|
|
26, 1979, to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pursley; she graduated in 1997 from |
|
|
Edinburg North High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader and |
|
|
a member of FFA; she subsequently earned a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
marketing from The University of Texas--Pan American and went on to |
|
|
pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales; she wed Brad Swinnea on |
|
|
August 2, 2003, and the couple made their home in Weslaco; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In November 2006, the life of this vibrant young |
|
|
woman took a dramatic turn when she collapsed following an accident |
|
|
and became comatose; hospitalized for many weeks, she began |
|
|
receiving hyperbaric oxygen treatments and showing signs of |
|
|
improvement; just before the Christmas holidays, she was moved |
|
|
home, where her husband has since provided around-the-clock care, |
|
|
including her daily oxygen treatments; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Drawing strength from their faith, her family and |
|
|
friends look forward to brighter days ahead for Ms. Swinnea, and we |
|
|
join them in their hopes and prayers; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby extend sincere best wishes for the future to |
|
|
Melody Swinnea and her family. |
