R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal |
|
Christopher M. McCrackin of Liverpool suffered an immeasurable loss |
|
with the death of this valiant soldier on November 14, 2005, at the |
|
age of 20; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the Battalion Landing Team 2nd |
|
Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 1 |
|
Marine Expeditionary Force, Lance Corporal McCrackin was killed |
|
while conducting combat operations during Operation Steel Curtain |
|
in New Ubaydi, Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on July 23, 1985, he graduated from Alvin High |
|
School, where he was active in the Junior Reserve Officers' |
|
Training Corps, and his skill and dedication earned him many |
|
honors, including the American Legion Military Excellence Medal; in |
|
addition, he was known for giving generously of his time to assist |
|
needy families in the community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal McCrackin fulfilled a long-held |
|
dream just days after celebrating his 18th birthday when he |
|
enlisted in the delayed entry program with his twin brother, |
|
Michael; and |
|
WHEREAS, Despite the dangerous nature of his mission, Lance |
|
Corporal McCrackin took pride in his work and remained devoted to |
|
serving his country to the best of his ability; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this brave young man is a sobering |
|
reminder of the cost of war; Christopher McCrackin embodied the |
|
highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
|
loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Marine Lance |
|
Corporal Christopher M. McCrackin and extend deepest sympathy to |
|
the members of his family: to his wife, Natalie McCrackin; to his |
|
son, Ethan Matthew McCrackin; to his parents, Terry and Belinda |
|
McCrackin; to his sister, Selene McCrackin; to his twin brother, |
|
Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael McCrackin; to his grandparents, |
|
William and Doreen McCrackin and Natalio and Aurora Ramirez; and to |
|
his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lance |
|
Corporal Christopher M. McCrackin. |
