R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rene Rosas of El Paso received the 2006 Gold
  Medal for Distinguished Service, the highest honor given by the
  Texas Dental Association; and
          WHEREAS, A former U.S. Marine jet fighter pilot, Dr. Rosas
  earned a degree in biological sciences from The University of Texas
  at El Paso and received his DDS at The University of Texas Dental
  Branch at Houston; and
         WHEREAS, He owned his own dental practice in El Paso for more
  than 30 years, from 1962 to 1994; Dr. Rosas currently serves as
  dental director for Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe, Inc., a
  nonprofit community health center that offers medical and dental
  care to the underserved population in El Paso County and treats
  approximately 2,000 patients per month at its central clinic and
  three satellites; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has generously shared his time
  and talents with his professional community, serving as chair of
  the Health Planning Advisory Committee of the West Texas Council of
  Governments, the Advisory Committee for the El Paso Community
  College Dental Hygiene Program, and the Providence Memorial
  Hospital Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rosas has clearly demonstrated outstanding
  leadership and vision in the health care industry, and he may take
  great pride in his record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Rene Rosas on receiving the 2006
  Gold Medal for Distinguished Service from the Texas Dental
  Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Rosas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
