R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Rene Rosas of El Paso received the 2006 Gold |
|
Medal for Distinguished Service, the highest honor given by the |
|
Texas Dental Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, A former U.S. Marine jet fighter pilot, Dr. Rosas |
|
earned a degree in biological sciences from The University of Texas |
|
at El Paso and received his DDS at The University of Texas Dental |
|
Branch at Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, He owned his own dental practice in El Paso for more |
|
than 30 years, from 1962 to 1994; Dr. Rosas currently serves as |
|
dental director for Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe, Inc., a |
|
nonprofit community health center that offers medical and dental |
|
care to the underserved population in El Paso County and treats |
|
approximately 2,000 patients per month at its central clinic and |
|
three satellites; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has generously shared his time |
|
and talents with his professional community, serving as chair of |
|
the Health Planning Advisory Committee of the West Texas Council of |
|
Governments, the Advisory Committee for the El Paso Community |
|
College Dental Hygiene Program, and the Providence Memorial |
|
Hospital Foundation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Rosas has clearly demonstrated outstanding |
|
leadership and vision in the health care industry, and he may take |
|
great pride in his record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rene Rosas on receiving the 2006 |
|
Gold Medal for Distinguished Service from the Texas Dental |
|
Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Rosas as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
