R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An elite group of young women will receive the Girl
  Scout Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn, on June
  4, 2007, at a ceremony on the Capitol grounds hosted by the Girl
  Scouts-Lone Star Council; and
         WHEREAS, Approximately 140 Girl Scouts are expected to
  participate in the two-hour ceremony in the House chamber, and some
  300 family members and well-wishers will cheer them on as they
  accept this prestigious honor; and
         WHEREAS, The Girl Scout Gold Award recognizes superior
  accomplishments in the areas of leadership, civic service,
  vocational planning, and personal development; and
         WHEREAS, To join the elite five percent of scouts who have
  received the Gold Award, members must prove their worthiness by
  completing a series of career and leadership challenges as well as a
  65-hour Gold Award project that emphasizes the development of
  organizational, leadership, and networking skills; and
         WHEREAS, The maturity, dedication, and spirit that the Gold
  Award recipients exhibit in pursuit of their goals truly exemplify
  the noblest ideals of the Girl Scout program, and each of these
  young women merits special recognition for her individual
  achievements and larger contributions to the State of Texas; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the 2007 Girl Scout Gold Award recipients
  and commend them for their success in going for the gold.
