R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Terri L. Morse is the 2007 recipient of the Theron L.
  Pickle Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor bestowed on individuals
  who have made significant and lasting contributions to high school
  swimming in the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, A gifted educator and motivator, Coach Morse has
  built an enormously successful swimming program at Pecos High
  School, where she has guided her teams to 27 district
  championships, nine regional championships, and three top-five
  finishes at the state meet; and
         WHEREAS, Coach Morse has produced 62 all-state swimmers and
  two all-Americans during her career, and she is equally well
  regarded for her commitment to developing the leadership skills of
  her student-athletes and for her active promotion of the importance
  of community service among her young charges; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Houston's Bellaire High School, Coach
  Morse was a member of the 1974 Girls State Championship Swim Team;
  she holds bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Stephen
  F. Austin State University and got her start in education with the
  Nacogdoches Independent School District, where she established her
  first swim program; and
         WHEREAS, Honored as Texas High School Swim Coach of the Year,
  this dedicated educator has earned the respect and admiration of
  students and peers alike over the course of nearly three decades as
  one of the state's top swim coaches, and her receipt of the Theron
  L. Pickle Lifetime Achievement Award is truly a significant
  highlight in her exceptional coaching career; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Terri L. Morse on her receipt of
  the Theron L. Pickle Lifetime Achievement Award and extend to her
  best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Morse as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
