R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, David and Susan Kleven of Animal Edutainment, Inc.,
  of Aubrey, on behalf of Wild Wonders, Inc., of California and in
  association with the Animal Planet cable network, are presenting
  animals from around the world on the grounds of the State Capitol on
  February 21, 2007, to the delight of all those in attendance; and
         WHEREAS, Founded by the Klevens in 1990 and named as "Best
  Traveling Zoo" in D Magazine's Best of Dallas issue in 2003, Animal
  Edutainment introduces wildlife to the public through "safaris" at
  school assemblies, libraries, corporate events, and other venues
  all over North Texas and beyond; the organization's animal care
  facility is home to over 50 orphaned, injured, or cast-off animals;
  and
         WHEREAS, David Kleven, also known as "Critterman" to his many
  young fans, trained at America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College
  in California; he has worked with animals at the Los Angeles and San
  Diego Zoos and at Universal Studios and has also appeared in
  segments of the Animal Planet series The Most Extreme; and
         WHEREAS, Texas native Susan Kleven, also known as "Safari
  Sue," graduated from Pearce High School in Richardson and attended
  the University of North Texas; she trained as well at America's
  Teaching Zoo and has also appeared with her husband on Animal
  Planet; the president of the Association of Professional Wildlife
  Educators, she is also director of the Frank Buck Zoo in
  Gainesville, which is named after the famous explorer and
  Gainesville native, Frank "Bring 'Em Back Alive" Buck; and
         WHEREAS, In their appearance today on the grounds of the
  State Capitol, David and Susan Kleven are presenting animals on
  behalf of Wild Wonders, Inc., of California that hail from
  throughout the world; these include an American alligator, a
  beaver, a ring-tail lemur, a turkey vulture, and a great horned owl;
  and
         WHEREAS, David and Susan Kleven and Animal Edutainment bring
  joy and information about the world's wildlife to enraptured
  children and other audiences all over Texas, and nationwide through
  their television appearances, and it is a pleasure to welcome them
  to the Capitol; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor David and Susan Kleven for their
  outstanding work through Animal Edutainment, Inc., and the Frank
  Buck Zoo and commend them for introducing the wonders of wildlife to
  so many appreciative Texans.
