R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times, loving
  moments, and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the
  family and friends of Thelma Elaine Chandler Waxman, who died
  peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 18, 2007;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Waxman was born to Rose and Abe Feingold in
  Chicago on April 14, 1930, and attended junior college; she raised
  two daughters and for many years worked at the University of Chicago
  and various medical offices; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply fond of children, she also taught preschool
  and rarely passed a child without smiling and engaging in
  conversation; after moving to Austin five years ago, she helped
  care for her two granddaughters and was a nanny for her "adopted"
  grandson; and
         WHEREAS, Books, plays, movies, television, and good food were
  among the other things that Mrs. Waxman thoroughly enjoyed; she was
  passionate about the game of mah jong, which she played for more
  than 50 years, and passed the love of the game on to her daughters
  and close friends; and
         WHEREAS, Thelma Waxman's kind words, warm touch, and
  wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed, and she will
  forever be remembered by those who carry her close in their hearts;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Thelma Elaine
  Chandler Waxman and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
  family: to her daughters, Robin Chandler and Michele Chandler; to
  her son-in-law, Michael Leseten; to her granddaughters, Alena and
  Maya Leseten; to her stepchildren, Janet Rhines, Andi Steinberg,
  Wendy Waxman, and Marty Waxman; to her step-grandchildren, Josh,
  Alex, and Marissa; and to her other relatives and many friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Thelma
  Elaine Chandler Waxman.
