R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Jon Howard Brecht of Seguin died on July 18,
  2006, leaving his family and friends with many treasured memories
  of time spent in his company; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Brecht earned his bachelor's degree from
  Southwestern University in Georgetown in 1960 and his doctorate in
  dental surgery from the Baylor University College of Dentistry in
  Dallas in 1965; he served in the U.S. Navy as a dental officer,
  stationed primarily at Parris Island and Guam, and retired from the
  Naval Reserve as a commander; and
         WHEREAS, A valued member of the Seguin community, Dr. Brecht
  worked as a dentist for 42 years; he also served on the boards of
  MHMR, Head Start, the Seguin Independent School District, and the
  Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center; and
         WHEREAS, Along with his wife, the late Marlys Brecht, Jon
  Brecht raised two children and with the passing years was blessed
  with the joys of doting on three grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, In his leisure time, he indulged his passion for
  classic cars and Harley-Davidsons and in recent years had enjoyed
  many cross-country motorcycle rides; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated professional, a caring husband and
  father, and an engaged citizen, Dr. Brecht excelled in each of these
  roles, and his life serves as an inspiration to those who were
  fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jon Howard Brecht and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his
  daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Quint Alexander; to his son,
  Sean Brecht; to his grandchildren, Jon Clark, Jack, and Alyx; to his
  brother, Bill Brecht, and his wife, Jennifer; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jon Howard
  Brecht.
