R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, To the delight of all who know them, Stephen Cody
  Terry and Kendra Michelle Payne have become engaged to be married;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Terry and Ms. Payne first met during a Christian
  band concert at a Longview church on September 16, 2006; they began
  dating, with the blessing of Kendra's father, on Christmas Eve,
  2006, and with the blessing of her parents, became engaged on the
  floor of the Texas House of Representatives on March 13, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The couple plan to be wed on June 30, 2007, and for
  their honeymoon, they are taking a Carnival Caribbean cruise to
  Cozumel, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and Montego Bay, Jamaica; and
         WHEREAS, Cody Terry was born on September 22, 1980, in
  Longview and graduated from White Oak High School in 1999; after
  receiving a degree in political science from The University of
  Texas at Tyler in 2003, he joined the staff of Representative Tommy
  Merritt, and since 2004, he has served as district director for
  Representative Bryan Hughes; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Ballinger, Ms. Payne was born on May 20,
  1987, and graduated from East Texas Christian School in Longview in
  2005; she is presently studying photography at Kilgore College,
  where she is a member of the Class of 2008; while developing her
  technical and artistic skills, she works with Meadowbrook Daycare
  in Kilgore and coaches cheerleading at her alma mater; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Payne desires to always be involved in the
  ministry and the church, and ultimately and most importantly to be a
  godly wife to her husband and a godly mother to their children; and
         WHEREAS, Taking to heart the injunction of Luke 12:48, "to
  whom much is given, much is required," this young couple will be
  devoted witnesses to their faith in whatever fields of endeavor
  they may pursue, and it is the sense of this chamber that they will
  find great joy and fulfillment as they seek to realize their shared
  dreams and aspirations; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Stephen Cody Terry on gaining the
  hand of his beloved, and extend to Kendra Michelle Payne sincere
  best wishes for much happiness as she and her fiance prepare to
  embark on their new life as husband and wife; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Terry and Ms. Payne as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
