R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 2003, Impact Austin has made |
|
|
invaluable contributions to the community it serves, and its |
|
|
members merit special recognition for their outstanding service; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This nonprofit organization is composed of 416 |
|
|
women who are dedicated to upholding the organization's mission of |
|
|
making a difference in the Austin area through high-impact and |
|
|
lifelong giving; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the members of Impact Austin fund grants |
|
|
that are then awarded to selected programs and projects of benefit |
|
|
to the community; as of 2006, these exceptional Texans have raised |
|
|
more than $650,000, which has gone on to assist Austin Travis County |
|
|
Mental Health Mental Retardation Center, LifeWorks, The Children's |
|
|
Wellness Center, EmanciPet, Inc., Communities In Schools, and |
|
|
Literacy Austin; they plan on donating more than $400,000 for their |
|
|
2007 grants, bringing their total amount of money given to over $1 |
|
|
million; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, All those associated with Impact Austin have |
|
|
exemplified a praiseworthy commitment to bettering the quality of |
|
|
life for their neighbors, and their inspiring efforts are indeed |
|
|
worthy of special commendation; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the members of Impact Austin for their |
|
|
important work in behalf of their community and extend to them best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Impact Austin as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
