R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the
  passing of Margaret Sears Brown of Abilene on February 12, 2007, yet
  the memory of her full and rewarding life may offer comfort in their
  time of loss; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of May and Arthur Sears, the former
  Margaret Sears was a member of one of Abilene's pioneer ranching
  families; in 1947, she married Raleigh Brown, and the pair were
  blessed with nearly six decades of happiness together, made even
  more fulfilling by the addition of three daughters and nine
  grandchildren to their family; and
         WHEREAS, This beloved wife and mother was a graduate of
  Abilene High School and The University of Texas; she was a longtime
  congregant of St. Paul United Methodist Church and gave generously
  of her time and talents to her hometown as a member of the Sears
  Methodist Foundation Board, the Junior League of Abilene, Alpha
  Delta Phi Sorority, the Cotillion Club, the Abilene Woman's Club,
  and the Assembly Club; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Margaret Brown
  will remember her wisdom and intuitiveness, as well as her love of
  music, literature, and the West Texas countryside, but perhaps most
  of all, they will long cherish their memories of a woman whose
  devotion to her family, friends, and community brought joy and
  comfort to many; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Margaret Sears Brown
  and extend sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband,
  the Honorable Raleigh Brown; to her daughters and their husbands,
  Nancy and Boo Jennings, Betsy and Dick Skorburg, and Julie and Mike
  Denny; to her grandchildren, Clark and Will Jennings, Chase, Meg,
  and Julie Skorburg, Kate and Matt Haney, and Austin and Liz Denny;
  to her sisters, Margie Wells and Billye Barlow; to her
  sister-in-law, Frances Mae Sears; and to her other family members
  and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Margaret
  Sears Brown.
