R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, High school sweethearts and lifelong Texans, Wade |
|
|
and Nelda Kerr of Longview celebrated 50 years of marriage on |
|
|
February 4, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Married in Jefferson in 1957, the Kerrs lived in |
|
|
Houston, Dallas, Jacksonville, and Tyler during the early years of |
|
|
their marriage; Mr. Kerr was the comptroller of Bealls department |
|
|
stores and the owner of Hefco Plastics in Troup, while Mrs. Kerr |
|
|
worked in banking and real estate; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The couple retired to Longview in 1999 and built a |
|
|
new home on Mr. Kerr's grandmother's property; members of Forest |
|
|
Hill Baptist Church, they spend their time playing golf, fishing, |
|
|
reading, antiquing, and decorating; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Kerrs raised three children, Pam Murphy, |
|
|
Michelle Kerr Bloom, and the late Michael Kerr, and today they take |
|
|
great joy in their six grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The devotion the Kerrs have demonstrated toward one |
|
|
another through the years is an inspiration to all who know them, |
|
|
and this special anniversary provides a fitting opportunity to |
|
|
honor them; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Wade and Nelda Kerr on their 50th |
|
|
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness together; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Kerr as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
