R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For half a century, Houston families have come |
|
together to worship at Kashmere Gardens Church of Christ, and the |
|
members of this enduring institution are commemorating the 50th |
|
anniversary of its founding on March 25, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Currently under the leadership of interim minister |
|
Maurice Davis, the church plays an important role in the lives of |
|
all who worship there and is a welcome source of aid and |
|
encouragement for many in the community; and |
|
WHEREAS, The congregation supports a number of worthwhile |
|
programs including a food pantry, Family Night, and ministries |
|
focusing on benevolence, singles, and youth, to name but a few; in |
|
addition, the church has worked to benefit Huntsville Prison |
|
Ministry, Southwestern Christian College, and the Interfaith |
|
CarePartners' Care Team Ministry; and |
|
WHEREAS, Kashmere Gardens has established itself as a vital |
|
part of Houston's historic Fifth Ward neighborhood during the past |
|
five decades, and its continued existence stands as a tribute to |
|
the commitment and faith of its leaders and members, both past and |
|
present; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding |
|
of Kashmere Gardens Church of Christ and extend to the congregation |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
