R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For half a century, Houston families have come
  together to worship at Kashmere Gardens Church of Christ, and the
  members of this enduring institution are commemorating the 50th
  anniversary of its founding on March 25, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Currently under the leadership of interim minister
  Maurice Davis, the church plays an important role in the lives of
  all who worship there and is a welcome source of aid and
  encouragement for many in the community; and
         WHEREAS, The congregation supports a number of worthwhile
  programs including a food pantry, Family Night, and ministries
  focusing on benevolence, singles, and youth, to name but a few;  in
  addition, the church has worked to benefit Huntsville Prison
  Ministry, Southwestern Christian College, and the Interfaith
  CarePartners' Care Team Ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Kashmere Gardens has established itself as a vital
  part of Houston's historic Fifth Ward neighborhood during the past
  five decades, and  its continued existence stands as a tribute to
  the commitment and faith of its leaders and members, both past and
  present; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding
  of Kashmere Gardens Church of Christ and extend to the congregation
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
