R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of First Baptist Church in Rio Grande
  City are celebrating the congregation's 75th anniversary in 2007;
  and
         WHEREAS, Officially organized on February 4, 1932, the church
  has played a vital role in the community throughout the past seven
  and a half decades and has provided a home for spiritual growth and
  fellowship for its members; and
         WHEREAS, Today, congregants are led by Pastor Bob Alderman,
  and their ministries are many and wide-ranging; their efforts
  include support of mission work under the auspices of the Southern
  Baptist Convention Co-Operative Program, involvement in community
  Bible studies, participation in important events such as the
  American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and initiatives designed to
  reach out to youth of all ages; and
         WHEREAS, For 75 years, First Baptist Church has served as a
  source of strength and inspiration to Rio Grande City worshippers,
  and the celebration of its 75th anniversary is a tribute to the
  faith and dedication of its members, both past and present, who have
  devoted their time, prayers, and resources to ensure its continued
  existence; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate First Baptist Church in Rio Grande
  City on the occasion of its 75th anniversary and extend to its
  clergy and members best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
