R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of First Baptist Church in Rio Grande |
|
City are celebrating the congregation's 75th anniversary in 2007; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Officially organized on February 4, 1932, the church |
|
has played a vital role in the community throughout the past seven |
|
and a half decades and has provided a home for spiritual growth and |
|
fellowship for its members; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, congregants are led by Pastor Bob Alderman, |
|
and their ministries are many and wide-ranging; their efforts |
|
include support of mission work under the auspices of the Southern |
|
Baptist Convention Co-Operative Program, involvement in community |
|
Bible studies, participation in important events such as the |
|
American Cancer Society Relay for Life, and initiatives designed to |
|
reach out to youth of all ages; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 75 years, First Baptist Church has served as a |
|
source of strength and inspiration to Rio Grande City worshippers, |
|
and the celebration of its 75th anniversary is a tribute to the |
|
faith and dedication of its members, both past and present, who have |
|
devoted their time, prayers, and resources to ensure its continued |
|
existence; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate First Baptist Church in Rio Grande |
|
City on the occasion of its 75th anniversary and extend to its |
|
clergy and members best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
