R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Students of the National Wildlife Federation Earth
  Tomorrow program in Houston are visiting the State Capitol on March
  15, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Seeking to improve the environmental literacy and
  leadership skills of underserved inner-city youth, this innovative
  program is currently in its third year of service in the Houston
  Independent School District, and participants include students
  from Madison, Worthing, Yates, Chavez, and Westside High Schools;
  and
         WHEREAS, Earth Tomorrow provides a wealth of opportunities
  for participants to develop conservation projects, gain valuable
  workplace experience, explore environmental careers, and develop
  leadership skills and build self-esteem through networking with
  other students, teachers, and civic leaders; students are
  participating in several Community Action Projects during the
  2006-2007 academic year, including the organization of an EcoFest
  Carnival for elementary-age children, the propagation of native
  plants in an on-campus greenhouse, and the creation of a habitat
  garden; and
         WHEREAS, The Earth Tomorrow program is successfully
  encouraging high school students to understand the natural world
  and its implications in their everyday lives, and the participants' 
  commitment to such a worthy endeavor is indeed commendable; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome the students of the National Wildlife
  Federation Earth Tomorrow program to the State Capitol and extend
  to them sincere best wishes for a memorable visit; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
