R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lynette Boggs, president and cofounder of Faith
  Works and 2:18 Entertainment, will offer the keynote speech at this
  year's Women's Day at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in San Antonio, and
  this opportunity provides an ideal time to recognize this
  outstanding woman and the myriad contributions she has made to her
  professional, civic, and religious communities; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the
  University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she earned a master's degree
  in public administration, Ms. Boggs is an accomplished motivational
  speaker and evangelist; she serves on the board of directors for St.
  Rose Dominican Hospitals, the Caucus of African American Nevadans,
  the Miss America organization, and the United States Naval Academy,
  to which she received a presidential appointment; she is a former
  commissioner of Clark County, Nevada, and was the first woman to
  serve on the city council in Las Vegas; and
         WHEREAS, This former Miss Oregon has been honored with a host
  of accolades, including the Woman of Achievement award from the
  Notre Dame Alumni Association and the Community Hero award from the
  National Conference of Christians and Jews; in addition, her
  advocacy for affordable housing earned her recognition from the
  Southern Nevada Home Builders Association; and
         WHEREAS, Lynette Boggs is an inspiration to all who are
  privileged to know her, and she truly merits special commendation
  for making a positive difference in the lives of countless
  individuals; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Lynette Boggs for her community
  service and notable professional achievements and extend to her
  best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Boggs as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
