R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Westlake High School girls' swim team captured
  the state championship at the 2007 UIL State Swimming and Diving
  Championships with an impressive team effort and several
  outstanding individual performances; and
         WHEREAS, Competing at the state tournament on February 16 and
  17, 2007, the Chaparrals posted 225 points to earn the team's fourth
  overall state crown and its first since winning the 1997 state
  championship; and
         WHEREAS, "Swimmer of the Meet" Mary Beck propelled her team
  to the top spot by reclaiming the national prep record in the
  200-yard individual medley and placing second in the 500-yard
  freestyle; teammate Samantha Tucker set a new state record in the
  200-yard freestyle and also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle;
  and
         WHEREAS, That talented twosome teamed with Camille Hendrix
  and Madeline Wyatt to win gold--and set new state records--in the
  200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay; Ms.
  Hendrix, a sophomore, also took third in the 50-yard freestyle; and
         WHEREAS, Head coach Isaac Grombacher ably prepared his
  athletes for the intense physical and mental demands of the long and
  challenging season; he was aided in his efforts by assistant coach
  Kathy O'Grady and volunteer assistant coach Eric Bliss, both of
  whom made valuable contributions to the team's success; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work, and the members of the
  Westlake High School girls' swim team have demonstrated their
  commitment to excellence with this memorable performance at the
  2007 UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the members and coaching staff of
  the Westlake High School girls' swim team on winning the 2007 state
  championship and extend best wishes to them and the many
  individuals who contributed to this superlative achievement; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
