R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Michael Therwhanger of Flower Mound, a member of the |
|
|
Boy Scouts of America, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and |
|
|
this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|
|
honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|
|
scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|
|
criteria, Mr. Therwhanger earned the requisite 21 merit badges and |
|
|
successfully completed an Eagle Scout project to benefit his |
|
|
community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan has been a Boy Scout member for |
|
|
10 years, demonstrating outstanding leadership ability throughout |
|
|
his scouting career and winning the respect and admiration of his |
|
|
fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting |
|
|
offers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An accomplished athlete, Mr. Therwhanger was named |
|
|
Junior Hurdler of the Year as a member of the varsity track team at |
|
|
his high school; he also plays varsity football and has taken part |
|
|
in the team's charity efforts to help the homeless; in addition, he |
|
|
has received awards for his academic achievements and ranks in the |
|
|
top four percent of his graduating class; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Therwhanger's dedication to excellence |
|
|
and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him |
|
|
worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may reflect with |
|
|
pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Michael Therwhanger on achieving |
|
|
the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Therwhanger as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
