R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, March 14, 2007, marks a significant milestone in the
  life of Carl Byron Hilderbran, for on this day he celebrates his
  80th birthday; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1927 in San Antonio, Mr. Hilderbran was
  active in scouting as a young man and earned the rank of Eagle
  Scout; he graduated from Brackenridge High School and, at the age of
  17, joined the United States Coast Guard in order to serve his
  country in World War II; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hilderbran went on to earn a degree from Texas
  A&I in Kingsville and began his notable career with USDA Soil
  Conservation Services; he later worked with Darr Equipment and Holt
  Equipment, and in 1962, this award-winning salesman established his
  own business, C & H Machinery; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Hilderbran was also engaged
  in ranching and farming, and he became successful in the real estate
  and real estate development business as well; and
         WHEREAS, He eloped with the love of his life, Carolyn, on
  January 28, 1949, after only two months of dating, and today, more
  than 58 years later, the couple's enduring union remains a source of
  joy and inspiration to all who know them; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hilderbran is a devoted father to his four sons,
  Victor Guidry Hilderbran, Joseph Anthony Hilderbran, Carl Byron
  Hilderbran, Jr., and Representative Harvey Ray Hilderbran, and a
  doting grandfather to his six grandchildren, Sarah, Roy, Byron,
  Cecile, Haley, and Callie; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with the love of his family and the
  affection of innumerable friends, Carl Hilderbran truly has reason
  to celebrate, and it is a pleasure to recognize him on this very
  special occasion; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Carl Byron Hilderbran on the
  occasion of his 80th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hilderbran as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
