R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Minority Business Enterprise Institute for
  Public Policy and the DFW Minority Business Council are sponsoring
  the Statewide Minority Business Enterprise Public Policy Day at the
  State Capitol on March 14, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Attendees of this year's event include minority
  business councils, chambers of commerce, and business leaders from
  across the state; and
         WHEREAS, During its visit to the Capitol, the group will meet
  with many of the state's elected officials to discuss relevant
  public policy issues and to promote economic inclusion of the
  minority business sector; and
         WHEREAS, Minority-owned businesses represent 26 percent of
  all businesses in Texas; moreover, they employ more than half a
  million workers, provide a $12 million payroll, and generate some
  $75 million in revenue; and
         WHEREAS, Minority business enterprises contribute greatly to
  the cultural and economic vitality and strength of this state, and
  their efforts are to be encouraged and commended; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 14, 2007, as Statewide MBE
  Public Policy Day at the State Capitol and extend sincere best
  wishes to members of the organization for an informative and
  productive day.
