R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Minority Business Enterprise Institute for |
|
Public Policy and the DFW Minority Business Council are sponsoring |
|
the Statewide Minority Business Enterprise Public Policy Day at the |
|
State Capitol on March 14, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Attendees of this year's event include minority |
|
business councils, chambers of commerce, and business leaders from |
|
across the state; and |
|
WHEREAS, During its visit to the Capitol, the group will meet |
|
with many of the state's elected officials to discuss relevant |
|
public policy issues and to promote economic inclusion of the |
|
minority business sector; and |
|
WHEREAS, Minority-owned businesses represent 26 percent of |
|
all businesses in Texas; moreover, they employ more than half a |
|
million workers, provide a $12 million payroll, and generate some |
|
$75 million in revenue; and |
|
WHEREAS, Minority business enterprises contribute greatly to |
|
the cultural and economic vitality and strength of this state, and |
|
their efforts are to be encouraged and commended; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 14, 2007, as Statewide MBE |
|
Public Policy Day at the State Capitol and extend sincere best |
|
wishes to members of the organization for an informative and |
|
productive day. |
