R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Billy Petty has been named the 2007 Paramedic of the
  Year by the Mesquite Fire Department, an honor that recognizes the
  exemplary performance of this accomplished professional; and
         WHEREAS, Hired by the department in 1992, Mr. Petty has ably
  served in several different emergency services roles and has been a
  paramedic for the past 12 years; a longtime fixture at station 4, he
  has also served at station 5 and other locations, and his consistent
  dedication to duty and commitment to providing quality treatment
  have greatly benefited his department and his city; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Petty regularly donates his time and talents to
  community efforts, including the Fill the Boot campaign, which
  raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association; he also
  performs volunteer work at a summer camp for children with special
  needs; and
         WHEREAS, In his paramedic work, Mr. Petty is known for
  showing his patients the highest respect, and he devotes himself to
  providing them with the emergency health care they need; highly
  respected by his colleagues, Billy Petty has proven himself a
  distinguished public servant who is most deserving of this
  commendation; now, therefore, be it
          RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th
  Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Billy Petty on being named
  2007 Paramedic of the Year by the Mesquite Fire Department and
  extend to him best wishes for continued success in his important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Petty as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
