R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Captain David Baker of the Mesquite Fire Department |
|
|
has been named the department's 2007 Officer of the Year, providing |
|
|
a fitting tribute for this dedicated public servant; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Hired as a firefighter in November 1978, Captain |
|
|
Baker has risen steadily through the ranks during his lengthy |
|
|
tenure with the department; he was promoted to engineer in 1985 and |
|
|
earned the rank of lieutenant in 1994 before attaining his current |
|
|
rank in 2000; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active with the United Way campaign for several |
|
|
years, Captain Baker helped the department set a record for |
|
|
donations in 2006; he also gave generously of his time to lead the |
|
|
department's "Fired Up for Santa" campaign, enabling the group to |
|
|
have its most successful gift drive to date; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Inspiring others with his respect for tradition and |
|
|
history and his outgoing, personable nature, Captain Baker has |
|
|
earned the trust and admiration of his fellow firefighters and of |
|
|
countless members of the community, and his latest accolade is |
|
|
indicative of the high regard in which this esteemed gentleman is |
|
|
held; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Captain David Baker on his |
|
|
selection as the Mesquite Fire Department 2007 Officer of the Year |
|
|
and commend him for his continuing efforts to safeguard the homes |
|
|
and lives of his fellow citizens and make a positive difference in |
|
|
his community; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Captain Baker as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
