R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Hector Parada, Jr., a senior at J. M. Hanks High |
|
School in El Paso, has distinguished himself through his academic |
|
and extracurricular achievements; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of the student council for two years, Mr. |
|
Parada also served as the committee chair for the Hanks High School |
|
Interact Club and is a member of several of the school's sports |
|
teams; and |
|
WHEREAS, This two-year varsity football letterman was a |
|
tenacious defender who racked up 91 tackles in one season, which |
|
ranked as the 15th highest total in the city; his spirited play |
|
earned him an honorable mention among the District 1-5A defensive |
|
ends for 2006; he earned a second letter as a member of the track |
|
team, where he was district qualifier in the shot put and helped the |
|
team win the district championship; in addition, he played for the |
|
baseball team during his freshman year, when the Hanks Knights were |
|
co-district champions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Parada has also been a fierce competitor in the |
|
classroom, where he has achieved an 87.1 grade-point average and |
|
completed advanced placement course work in English; and |
|
WHEREAS, For the promise he has shown in his high school |
|
career, he has been awarded a $500 scholarship from the Hanks |
|
Football Booster Club, and it is appropriate to take this |
|
opportunity to pay tribute to him as he prepares for the exciting |
|
challenges that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Hector Parada, Jr., for his achievements |
|
at Hanks High School and extend to him best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Parada as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
