R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The well-being of the people of Texas depends on |
|
economic prosperity throughout the state, and independent |
|
businesses that employ Texans and contribute to their local |
|
economies are important components of a healthy economy and a |
|
prosperous future; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jack's Fine Food, the popular Atlanta restaurant |
|
owned by Jack Wright, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2007; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Wright learned the restaurant business |
|
firsthand from his father, who had managed restaurants in |
|
Texarkana; originally employed as a regional manager for Owens |
|
Country Sausage, Mr. Wright tired of traveling and decided to open |
|
his own restaurant; he purchased an old car lot on Highway 59 at the |
|
north end of Atlanta and, with a partner, opened Rawleigh's |
|
Restaurant on February 11, 1977; shortly thereafter, he bought out |
|
his partner, and the restaurant became known as Jack's Fine Food; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, At the time he first opened for business, Dairy |
|
Queen was the only chain restaurant in Atlanta; today Highway 59 is |
|
lined with nationally known restaurants, but Jack's Fine Food |
|
continues to offer something special--quality, home-cooked food at |
|
a fair price; drawing a loyal and ever-expanding clientele, |
|
Mr. Wright counts among his customers a number of former employees |
|
whose children are now employed by him; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 30 years, Jack's Fine Food has enriched the |
|
lives of area residents and visitors alike by offering first-rate |
|
fare in a friendly, family atmosphere, and Mr. Wright indeed merits |
|
special recognition for his achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jack Wright on the 30th anniversary |
|
of Jack's Fine Food and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Wright as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
