R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A distinguished career as a coach and educator is
  coming to a close with the retirement of Tim Marzuola from Highland
  Park High School in Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, A Kansas native who moved to Texas in the mid-1970s
  to attend North Texas State University, Tim Marzuola has been a
  teacher since 1976 and joined the staff at Highland Park High School
  in 1982; that same year, he became the school's first wrestling
  coach, and so began an illustrious career that has seen him become
  one of the state's all-time great leaders in the sport; and
         WHEREAS, By the late 1980s, Coach Marzuola's teams began to
  enjoy considerable success and regularly won the district title;
  since 1999, when the University Interscholastic League began
  sanctioning the state wrestling championship, the Fighting Scots
  have claimed five state titles in nine seasons; in addition,
  Highland Park wrestlers have racked up numerous state dual-team
  titles and UIL regional championships, and Coach Marzuola's
  formidable teams have posted only one losing record in his 24
  seasons as head coach; and
         WHEREAS, This legacy of success results from Tim Marzuola's
  ability to foster a strong sense of team spirit among his athletes
  and their parents, as well as his skill in schooling the wrestlers
  in the finer points of technique and strategy; highly respected by
  his peers, he has been named Coach of the Year by the Texas High
  School Wrestling Coaches Association a total of five times; and
         WHEREAS, A gifted instructor as well as a coach, Mr. Marzuola
  teaches economics at Highland Park, and his excellence in the
  classroom was saluted in 2006, when he was named a Teacher of the
  Year by the Highland Park Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, In three decades as an educator and nearly a quarter
  century as the Highland Park wrestling coach, Tim Marzuola has
  established himself as an exceptional mentor who has influenced the
  lives of thousands of young people, and his dedication to building
  the character, discipline, and knowledge of his students and
  athletes is deserving of recognition and commendation; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Tim Marzuola on the occasion of his
  retirement from Highland Park High School and extend to him best
  wishes for success and happiness in all his future endeavors; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Marzuola as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
