R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Texas A&M University College of
  Agriculture Development Council are gathering in Austin to attend
  the semiannual meeting of the council on March 20-22, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1981 with the purpose of supporting and
  advising the College of Agriculture and Life Science, the COADC
  later broadened its focus to include resource development, and by
  the mid-1980s, it had established numerous endowed scholarships and
  chairs and funded several professorships and fellowships;
  traditionally, the COADC has also played a role in facilitating the
  relationship between the university and the agricultural
  community, and it was instrumental in the creation of a new Animal
  Science Teaching, Research and Extension Center, which opened in
  the 1990s; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the COADC works to promote Texas A&M as the
  world's premier agriculture institution through coordinated
  efforts in the areas of gifts, student services, staff advisory,
  research and outreach service, membership, and public policy;
  council members can be especially proud of their record of funding,
  which includes support for student organizations, as well as events
  and programs such as the Texas Agricultural and Natural Resource
  Summit Initiative and the Agricultural and Natural Resource Policy
  Congressional Intern Program; moreover, the COADC has helped
  generate more than $2.2 million for student scholarships and
  endowments; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the COADC has contributed
  greatly to the success and growth of the College of Agriculture and
  Life Science at Texas A&M University, and its outstanding efforts
  truly merit special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the College of Agriculture Development
  Council on the occasion of its semiannual meeting and welcome its
  members to the city of Austin and the State Capitol.
