R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The City of Weatherford and Parker County have been
  presented with the first annual 2006 City-County Cooperation Award
  by the Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of
  Counties; and
         WHEREAS, Weatherford and Parker County implemented a program
  to address the gap in law enforcement that occurred with the 2005
  disbanding of a multicounty crime task force; together, they
  created a special crimes unit consisting of five officers who have
  made 370 major crimes arrests and have taken more than $1.7 million
  worth of illegal drugs off the streets; and
         WHEREAS, Through the award, the municipal league and the
  association of counties are encouraging local government
  cooperation as well as innovative problem-solving techniques,
  excellence in management, increased citizen participation, and the
  pursuit of higher levels of service to residents; the award will
  recognize cooperative endeavors in the areas of employee
  development and training, financial applications, technological
  advances, and other successful intergovernmental operations; and
         WHEREAS, Excellence in public service is critically
  important to the well-being of this state, and this award provides a
  fitting way to honor the notable accomplishments of Texas cities
  and counties working together; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Weatherford and Parker
  County on receiving the inaugural City-County Cooperation Award
  from the Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of
  Counties; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for representatives of the City of Weatherford and Parker
  County as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
  Representatives.
