R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jason Perez has deservedly been named Citizen of the
  Year by the Angleton Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, The Citizen of the Year award was created to honor
  Angleton citizens who have greatly contributed to their community,
  and Mr. Perez, who wears many hats in his unwavering commitment to
  improving, developing, and enriching the lives of others, is indeed
  such a person; and
         WHEREAS, Today Mr. Perez is well known for his work with the
  Angleton Area Emergency Medical Corps, where he began as a
  volunteer in 1996; now serving as assistant administrator, he has
  gained the confidence and respect of this entire area for his
  dedicated work as a paramedic and instructor; and
         WHEREAS, Truly caring for his community, Mr. Perez volunteers
  weekly as a member of the Angleton City Council; he also serves as
  an executive board member for the United Way and an executive board
  member for the Brazoria County Fair Association; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Perez is one who not only has concern for others
  but also shows it with work above and beyond the call of duty;
  during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he volunteered in the
  EMS Operations Command Center in Houston, and he chose to stay in
  Angleton during Hurricane Rita to work the city and county
  Emergency Operations Center; and
         WHEREAS, A major force in the Angleton Chamber of Commerce,
  Mr. Perez has helped to organize projects aimed at making the
  Angleton area a better place to live and work; and
         WHEREAS, Beginning his community involvement during his high
  school days in Angleton, this industrious young man was a proud
  member of the Purple Pride Marching Band and a junior member of the
  Angleton Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD); currently, he continues
  to be an advocate for the AISD band program and has spent more than
  18 years with the AVFD, where he is a certified intermediate
  firefighter and a certified instructor and training officer; and
         WHEREAS, Those individuals who know Mr. Perez have always
  noted his positive can-do attitude on every project he undertakes
  and appreciate the energy and spirit he brings to the city of
  Angleton, and his many worthwhile endeavors have indeed made him
  worthy of the special recognition bestowed upon him by his
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jason Perez on being named Citizen
  of the Year in Angleton and extend to him best wishes for success
  and happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Perez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
