R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Midland Christian School Mustangs football team |
|
captured the 2006 Texas Association of Private and Parochial |
|
Schools (TAPPS) Division II state championship in Temple on |
|
December 9, 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, In winning their fourth 11-man state title in the |
|
past six years, the Mustangs defeated Argyle Liberty Christian by |
|
the score of 21-14; the victory avenged the team's previous |
|
November 11 loss to its district rival and earned the Mustangs |
|
recognition as a dominant force in TAPPS sports competition; and |
|
WHEREAS, Led by head coach Greg McClendon and his excellent |
|
coaching staff, the Mustangs demonstrated a dedication to |
|
excellence throughout the long season, relying on teamwork and a |
|
commitment to football fundamentals as they pursued the coveted |
|
state crown; and |
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the goal of every |
|
high school athlete, and with this victory the members of the |
|
Midland Christian School Mustangs football team brought about a |
|
season that will long be remembered and celebrated by everyone |
|
associated with the school; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Greg McClendon and the |
|
Midland Christian School Mustangs on winning the 2006 TAPPS |
|
Division II state football championship and extend best wishes to |
|
the many individuals who contributed to this important achievement; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
