R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Midland Christian School Mustangs football team
  captured the 2006 Texas Association of Private and Parochial
  Schools (TAPPS) Division II state championship in Temple on
  December 9, 2006; and
         WHEREAS, In winning their fourth 11-man state title in the
  past six years, the Mustangs defeated Argyle Liberty Christian by
  the score of 21-14; the victory avenged the team's previous
  November 11 loss to its district rival and earned the Mustangs
  recognition as a dominant force in TAPPS sports competition; and
         WHEREAS, Led by head coach Greg McClendon and his excellent
  coaching staff, the Mustangs demonstrated a dedication to
  excellence throughout the long season, relying on teamwork and a
  commitment to football fundamentals as they pursued the coveted
  state crown; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the goal of every
  high school athlete, and with this victory the members of the
  Midland Christian School Mustangs football team brought about a
  season that will long be remembered and celebrated by everyone
  associated with the school; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Greg McClendon and the
  Midland Christian School Mustangs on winning the 2006 TAPPS
  Division II state football championship and extend best wishes to
  the many individuals who contributed to this important achievement;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
