R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the State Firemen's and Fire
  Marshals' Association of Texas are visiting the Capitol on March
  21, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The oldest and largest fire service association in
  Texas, this notable organization was founded in 1876, and for more
  than 130 years its members have ably served the residents of the
  Lone Star State; today, the group represents more than 1,100 fire
  departments, 80 industrial fire brigades, and 18,000 individual
  members; and
         WHEREAS, Approximately 70 percent of the fire service of
  Texas is made up of volunteer firefighters who have pledged to
  protect the lives and property of their fellow citizens; on this
  day, a ceremony at the Firemen's Monument located on the Capitol
  grounds pays special tribute to four of these dedicated individuals
  who lost their lives in the line of duty; and
         WHEREAS, Through its certification program, the association
  promotes training and education for its members, and it sponsors
  and supports the world's largest fire training school each summer
  at Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Since its establishment, the SFFMA has worked
  diligently to promote, unify, represent, and educate the fire
  service of Texas, and its ongoing efforts to meet the needs of its
  members are most deserving of special recognition; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the members of the State Firemen's and
  Fire Marshals' Association of Texas and honor them for their
  continuing work in behalf of the firefighters of the Lone Star
  State; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
