R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Carl and Martha Lavin of New Braunfels
  celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on February 24, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lavin was an Army Air Corps mechanic at Kelly
  Field when he met the former Martha Dippel, a student at
  Brackenridge High School; they were married at the Eden Home chapel
  in San Antonio in 1937, and have since nurtured a close and
  fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
  addition of two children, Patty and John, and four grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lavin worked as a steel estimator for an oil
  company until his retirement in 1979; Mrs. Lavin has been a
  dedicated homemaker; through the years, they have enjoyed each
  other's company on neighborhood walks and cross-country trips, and
  today they take pleasure in reading the Bible, playing the piano,
  and taking a German class together; and
         WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumerable changes in the world
  over the past seven decades, this devoted husband and wife have
  found comfort in the reassuring strength of their love, and the
  steadfast support they provide to one another has allowed them to
  meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace and
  determination; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Carl and Martha Lavin on their 70th
  wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lavin as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
