R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Carl and Martha Lavin of New Braunfels |
|
|
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on February 24, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lavin was an Army Air Corps mechanic at Kelly |
|
|
Field when he met the former Martha Dippel, a student at |
|
|
Brackenridge High School; they were married at the Eden Home chapel |
|
|
in San Antonio in 1937, and have since nurtured a close and |
|
|
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the |
|
|
addition of two children, Patty and John, and four grandchildren; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lavin worked as a steel estimator for an oil |
|
|
company until his retirement in 1979; Mrs. Lavin has been a |
|
|
dedicated homemaker; through the years, they have enjoyed each |
|
|
other's company on neighborhood walks and cross-country trips, and |
|
|
today they take pleasure in reading the Bible, playing the piano, |
|
|
and taking a German class together; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumerable changes in the world |
|
|
over the past seven decades, this devoted husband and wife have |
|
|
found comfort in the reassuring strength of their love, and the |
|
|
steadfast support they provide to one another has allowed them to |
|
|
meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace and |
|
|
determination; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Carl and Martha Lavin on their 70th |
|
|
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lavin as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
