R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Hugo Almaraz of Alice has rendered valiant |
|
service in Iraq as a member of the United States Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 1994 graduate of Alice High School, Sergeant |
|
Almaraz joined the military in 1997 out of a desire to serve his |
|
country; he served a tour in Iraq with Alpha Company 508 of the |
|
173rd Airborne Brigade and was later redeployed with Charlie |
|
Company 2/5 of the 1st Cavalry; and |
|
WHEREAS, Notwithstanding the hazardous nature of his work, |
|
this brave soldier approached his mission with the utmost |
|
dedication and professionalism, and six months after his return to |
|
Iraq, he was wounded in his left foot during combat operations in |
|
Sadr City on September 6, 2004; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Almaraz is blessed with a loving family; |
|
the son of proud parents Mario and Maria Almaraz, he is the father |
|
of three children, Dustin, Allyson, and Elyzabeth, and the husband |
|
of Rebecca; and |
|
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to |
|
Sergeant Almaraz and to all the country's military personnel, for |
|
they are called on in wartime to bear the heaviest of burdens and to |
|
render sacrifice that is truly beyond measure; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his unwavering devotion to duty, honor, and |
|
this nation, Sergeant Almaraz embodies the highest ideals of the |
|
United States armed forces, and it is indeed appropriate to |
|
recognize him and commend him for his service; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor U.S. Army Sergeant Hugo Almaraz for his |
|
courageous service in Iraq and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Sergeant Almaraz as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
