R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of respected educator and administrator
  Robert Plummer of Hurst on March 1, 2007, at the age of 75, has left
  a void in the lives of his family members and many friends; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Plummer dedicated 27 years of his life to
  serving as an administrator with the Fort Worth Independent School
  District; he was a principal for 20 years and coordinator for
  magnets/Montessori for three; his career as an educator included
  teaching positions at the University of North Texas and Texas
  Wesleyan University, a summer deanship at the University of London
  in England, and employment with two California unified school
  districts; after retiring in 1997, this dynamic Texan worked as
  vice principal each Wednesday for two years at his alma mater, Amon
  Carter-Riverside High School, which honored him as a distinguished
  graduate; and
         WHEREAS, A tireless civic leader who was named Citizen of the
  Year for Leadership by the city of Hurst, Mr. Plummer enjoyed
  affiliations and served in leadership roles with myriad
  organizations, including the American Heart Association, for which
  he had served as chairman of the board, the West Covina Jaycees, Phi
  Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi Alumni, Kiwanis International and
  Kiwanis Club of Fort Worth-Southwest, the Breakfast Optimist Club
  and the Cowtown Optimist Club, the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Rotary
  Club, and the Fort Worth Retired School Employees Association,
  among others; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Plummer received numerous accolades over the
  course of his life, including recognition as Jaycee of the Year,
  Kiwanian of the Year, Optimist of the Year, American Heart
  Association Board Member of the Year, Rotarian of the Year, and Fort
  Worth ISD Administrator of the Year; a Rotary International Paul
  Harris Fellow, he was the recipient of the Rotary HEB Outstanding
  Volunteer Award, the Phi Delta Kappa Service Key and Weldon Lucas
  Award, and the Outstanding Young Educator Award; and
         WHEREAS, He was a Korean War veteran and officer in the U.S.
  Air Force Reserve; he practiced his faith as a congregant at St.
  Luke United Methodist Church, where he sat on numerous church
  boards and served as president of the Upper Room for four years, and
  was a charter member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Masonic
  Lodge, and a York Rite Mason; and
         WHEREAS, A committed scholar, Mr. Plummer was awarded 30
  scholarships and fellowships, and in addition to his professional
  responsibilities and volunteer work, he made time to donate 441
  pints of blood; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Plummer was a man of generosity, compassion,
  and integrity whose contributions to his community had a profound
  and positive impact on those around him, and although his loss is
  difficult to bear, his legacy of achievement and success ensures
  that he will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Plummer and
  extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Mary Beth Plummer; to his sons and daughters-in-law, David and
  Margaret Plummer and Steve and Aimee Plummer; to his stepchildren
  and their spouses, Laurie Massengale and her husband, John, Bonnie
  Misenheimer and her husband, Randy, and Dr. Rob Jones and his wife,
  Stephanie; to his grandchildren, Megan, Carson, Katherine, Blake,
  Tyler, Mallory, Ashley, Alicia, Chase, Jesse, Paige, and Nicholas;
  and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
  Plummer.
