R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  death of Paul Mabrey Hanson of Dallas on March 12, 2007, at the age
  of 84; and
         WHEREAS, Born on October 24, 1922, on a farm in Kansas, Paul
  Hanson graduated from high school in 1941; after a semester at
  Kansas Wesleyan University, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and
  participated in the Allied invasions of Bouganville, Guam, and
  Okinawa during World War II and received a commendation for
  meritorious service; and
         WHEREAS, Following his military service, Mr. Hanson enrolled
  at Southern Methodist University, where he earned a bachelor's
  degree in business administration in 1948 as well as two varsity
  letters in baseball; and
         WHEREAS, His professional life consisted of 17 years of
  employment with the Oilwell Supply Division of U.S. Steel
  Corporation, followed by four decades as a successful member of the
  Ebby Halliday REALTORS team; and
         WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his colleagues, Mr. Hanson shared
  his time and energy as a volunteer with local, statewide, and
  national real estate concerns; he served as president of RELO, a
  national relocation organization, and director of the Texas
  Association of REALTORS and the Greater Dallas Association of
  REALTORS, as well as a member of the National Association of
  REALTORS and many boards and associations of REALTORS in the
  Metroplex; further, his civic involvement included holding the
  offices of vice president of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce
  and business director and treasurer of the Texas Independent
  College Fund; and
         WHEREAS, For 44 years, he enjoyed the love and support of his
  first wife, the late Frances Crews Hanson, and he was fortunate
  enough to find love again with Mildred Kershner Hanson, who became
  his second wife; and
         WHEREAS, Paul Hanson leaves behind a legacy of service and
  acheivement, and he will be greatly missed by the many individuals
  whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Paul Mabrey Hanson and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  daughters, Joan Patmore, Gwen Sanchez and her husband, Roberto, and
  Kaye Galloway; to his grandchildren, Rob Sanchez and his wife,
  Ellie, Alexis Martinez and her husband, Antonio, Laura Sanchez,
  Chuck, Paul, and Doug Patmore, and Lindsey Galloway; to his
  great-grandchildren, Nicolas Sanchez and Carolina Martinez; to his
  sister, Ebby Halliday Acers; to his nephew and niece, Jim Huff and
  Jensy Engle; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Paul Mabrey
  Hanson.
