R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned five |
|
|
decades, Jim and Shirley Bassett of Midland celebrated their 50th |
|
|
wedding anniversary on August 18, 2006; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jim Bassett and the former Shirley Ann Freeman |
|
|
exchanged the vows of matrimony at First Baptist Church in Eastland |
|
|
on that special day in 1956, and over the course of their marriage, |
|
|
they have found in each other a devoted life partner; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bassett count among their blessings a |
|
|
fine family that includes one daughter, Sherri Bassett, with whom |
|
|
they treasure sharing the many special occasions of life; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bassett is retired from Texas |
|
|
Employers/Employees Casualty, and Mrs. Bassett worked for Husky Oil |
|
|
Company, Pennzoil, and Mustang Mud, Inc.; after retiring, they were |
|
|
active in real estate and insurance endeavors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Looking back over the past five decades, Jim and |
|
|
Shirley Bassett can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and |
|
|
know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that |
|
|
many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Jim and Shirley Bassett on their |
|
|
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bassett as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
