R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sharing a deep bond of love that has spanned five
  decades, Jim and Shirley Bassett of Midland celebrated their 50th
  wedding anniversary on August 18, 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Jim Bassett and the former Shirley Ann Freeman
  exchanged the vows of matrimony at First Baptist Church in Eastland
  on that special day in 1956, and over the course of their marriage,
  they have found in each other a devoted life partner; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bassett count among their blessings a
  fine family that includes one daughter, Sherri Bassett, with whom
  they treasure sharing the many special occasions of life; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Bassett is retired from Texas
  Employers/Employees Casualty, and Mrs. Bassett worked for Husky Oil
  Company, Pennzoil, and Mustang Mud, Inc.; after retiring, they were
  active in real estate and insurance endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, Looking back over the past five decades, Jim and
  Shirley Bassett can savor a wealth of cherished family memories and
  know that the strength of their love and commitment ensures that
  many more joyful times await them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jim and Shirley Bassett on their
  50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bassett as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
