R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Thomas and Martha Vannaman of Midland
  celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 9, 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Thomas L. Vannaman and the former Martha Stone were
  united in matrimony at the First United Methodist Church in Midland
  in 1956; they have nurtured a close and fulfilling marriage that has
  been made even richer with the addition of three children, Valerie,
  Thomas, and Timothy Vannaman, as well as five grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Vannaman served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years and
  taught accounting and economics for Midland College for 30 years;
  in addition, he is active in the Midland Masonic Lodge No. 623,
  Tranquility Lodge No. 2000, and Grand Lodge of Texas; he and Mrs.
  Vannaman are valued members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church;
  and
         WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumerable changes in the world
  over the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife have
  taken comfort in the reassuring strength of their love, and the
  steadfast support they provide to one another has allowed them to
  meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace and
  determination; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Thomas and Martha Vannaman on their
  golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Vannaman as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
