R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Texas singer Jason "Sundance" Head has performed
  memorably on the popular television talent competition, American
  Idol; and
         WHEREAS, Born and raised in Porter, Sundance Head is the son
  of R&B singer Roy Head, who had three top 40 hits in 1965 and whose
  hit "Treat Her Right" reached number two on the Billboard pop chart
  that year; and
         WHEREAS, Growing up in a house with a gold record hanging on
  the wall, Sundance Head was inspired to follow in his father's
  footsteps; a singer from an early age, Mr. Head also plays guitar,
  bass, and piano and composes songs; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Head surprised and greatly impressed the judges,
  even Simon Cowell, by confidently performing the blues standard
  "Stormy Monday" at his audition in Memphis; he continued to impress
  the judges with what one journalist called a "smoking" rendition of
  "Mustang Sally" and made it into the Top 16 contestants on the show;
  and
         WHEREAS, At only 28 years of age, Sundance Head has had an
  extraordinary year; his good fortune includes his appearance on
  American Idol as well as his marriage and the birth of his first
  child, Levi Aron Head; and
         WHEREAS, Sundance Head has won the hearts of millions of
  television viewers nationwide, and his talent, drive, and
  enthusiasm surely herald a bright future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Sundance Head on his appearance on
  American Idol and extend to him sincere best wishes for a successful
  musical career; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Head as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
