R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Marguerite Badger has rendered decades of
  invaluable service to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, A member of one of the hospital's first volunteer
  groups, Mrs. Badger began her impressive tenure with the
  institution in 1959; she has held several important positions over
  the course of her career, including those of assistant director of
  admissions and director of admissions, as well as president of the
  Hermann Hospital Volunteers; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Badger began a new chapter in her association
  with the hospital in 1976, when she accepted responsibilities as
  director of the hospital's first Life Flight program; named the
  director of flight operations in 1978, she helped bring attention
  to this effort through her diligent public awareness campaigns, and
  her tireless work earned her recognition as the "First Lady of Life
  Flight"; although she officially retired, Mrs. Badger returned to
  the hospital as a volunteer in 1997; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, this former vice president of the
  Texas Association of Volunteers has given of her time and talents as
  a member of the American Helicopter Society, the Junior League of
  Houston, American Osteopathic Auxiliary, and the American Society
  of Hospital Based Emergency Air Medical Services, which she helped
  to found; recognized as an honorary deputy by the Harris County
  Sheriff's Department, she has been lauded with the Marriott/Carlson
  Award from Bell Helicopter and the Dedicated Service Award from the
  Houston Police Officers' Association; in addition, Memorial
  Hermann Hospital has introduced the Badger-Schneidau Volunteer
  Award, honoring her for her years of meaningful work; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Badger has proven herself to be a health care
  professional and volunteer of immense ability and dedication; her
  desire to serve her fellow citizens is truly inspiring, and she may
  take justifiable pride in her exceptional service; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Marguerite Badger for her contributions
  to Memorial Hermann Hospital and its Life Flight program and extend
  to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Badger as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
