R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ivan Alexander, Jr., of Emory has generously given
  of his time and talents to benefit the citizens of Rains County; and
         WHEREAS, The owner of Rains County Abstract Co. and Elliot &
  Waldron Abstract, Mr. Alexander has practiced law in North Texas
  since 1962; a former attorney for Rains ISD, he helped to
  consolidate the local school system and further used his
  professional expertise to aid in the creation of the Rains County
  Fire District; he also played a vital role in getting streets paved
  in Emory; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Alexander has shared his time with a number of
  worthwhile endeavors, serving as president of Rains County Economic
  Growth, Rains County Fair Association, City Cemetery Association,
  Rains County Centennial, and the Emory Lions Club; moreover, he has
  helped to organize and raise money for the Annie Mae Schrimsher
  Scholarship fund and the Rains County Chamber of Commerce
  Scholarship fund, both of which benefit Rains County ISD students;
  and
         WHEREAS, His civic leadership has earned him a number of
  accolades; named 2001 Economic Developer of the Year by the East
  Texas Economic Development District, he has received the
  Outstanding Citizen Award from the Emory Lions Club, the Award for
  Volunteer Service from Keep Emory Beautiful, the 2003 Community
  Builder Award from Mars Hill Masonic of Emory, and the 2005
  Meritorious Service Award from the Rains County Chamber of
  Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, An active, essential contributor to Rains County's
  civic life for many years, Ivan Alexander, Jr., has earned the
  respect and appreciation of his fellow residents, and his efforts
  in their behalf are truly outstanding; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Ivan Alexander, Jr., for his
  contributions to his community and extend to him best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Alexander, Jr., as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
