H.R. No. 1053

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Participants in Leadership Southeast Texas are
celebrating the 15th anniversary of the founding of their notable
organization and are traveling to Austin on March 26, 2007, for
Leadership Southeast Texas Day at the State Capitol; and
WHEREAS, Organized by the Partnership of Southeast Texas,
Leadership Southeast Texas is designed to provide business and
civic leaders with opportunities to learn about and contribute to
  area economic advancement; and
WHEREAS, Leadership Southeast Texas promotes a better
understanding of both the obstacles to and the opportunities for
economic development, regional unity, and quality of life in
Southeast Texas; including representatives from Chambers, Hardin,
Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler Counties, as
well as the Bolivar Peninsula of Galveston County, LSET identifies
and studies issues that are significant to ongoing business
development and encourages innovative approaches to addressing the
  issues; and
WHEREAS, The program boasts more than 650 graduates who
represent 120 businesses, organizations, and governmental entities

nearly 50 different Texas cities; and
WHEREAS, Communities are increasingly affected by national
and international forces, and they are often on the front lines of

imperative that communities appreciate their interdependence and
  work together to succeed; and
WHEREAS, Building networks of civic-minded individuals with
exceptional understanding of economic issues, Leadership Southeast
Texas has contributed immeasurably to the success and prosperity of
the region and the Lone Star State, and it is most appropriate to

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
