R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Participants in Leadership Southeast Texas are
  celebrating the 15th anniversary of the founding of their notable
  organization and are traveling to Austin on March 26, 2007, for
  Leadership Southeast Texas Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, Organized by the Partnership of Southeast Texas,
  Leadership Southeast Texas is designed to provide business and
  civic leaders with opportunities to learn about and contribute to
  area economic advancement; and
         WHEREAS, Leadership Southeast Texas promotes a better
  understanding of both the obstacles to and the opportunities for
  economic development, regional unity, and quality of life in
  Southeast Texas; including representatives from Chambers, Hardin,
  Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler Counties, as
  well as the Bolivar Peninsula of Galveston County, LSET identifies
  and studies issues that are significant to ongoing business
  development and encourages innovative approaches to addressing the
  issues; and
         WHEREAS, The program boasts more than 650 graduates who
  represent 120 businesses, organizations, and governmental entities
  from the region and includes some alumni who now live and work in 20
  different states, Europe, and the Middle East, in addition to
  nearly 50 different Texas cities; and
         WHEREAS, Communities are increasingly affected by national
  and international forces, and they are often on the front lines of
  change, but events and needs may be too great for one city or county
  to address alone and instead require regional and statewide
  efforts; for Southeast Texas to continue to grow and thrive, it is
  imperative that communities appreciate their interdependence and
  work together to succeed; and
         WHEREAS, Building networks of civic-minded individuals with
  exceptional understanding of economic issues, Leadership Southeast
  Texas has contributed immeasurably to the success and prosperity of
  the region and the Lone Star State, and it is most appropriate to
  commend this noteworthy program; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 26, 2007, as Leadership
  Southeast Texas Day at the State Capitol and extend to LSET alumni
  and new graduates sincere best wishes for continued success; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Leadership Southeast Texas as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
