R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Beaumont Coca-Cola Bottling Company is
  commemorating the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The local institution was established in 1907 by
  candy-store manager C. T. Heisig; sharing the candy-store location
  on Park Street, the company's equipment originally consisted of one
  foot-powered machine and two wooden tubs for washing bottles; and
         WHEREAS, Purchased by Charles V. Rainwater in 1911, the
  Beaumont franchise quickly grew and moved twice to accommodate the
  needs of its growing customer base; the business operated out of a
  plant on Mariposa Street for 54 years until it moved to its
  present-day facility on the Eastex Freeway in 1985; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the Beaumont company continues to benefit the
  business climate in Southeast Texas, making deliveries of over six
  million cases of beverages annually to more than 5,000 retail
  customers in eight counties and employing some 200 area residents;
  and
         WHEREAS, For 100 years, the Beaumont Coca-Cola Bottling
  Company has contributed significantly to the Texas economy, and all
  those associated with the company are to be commended for their
  efforts in behalf of this long-standing Lone Star business; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize April 12, 2007, as Coca-Cola Day in
  acknowledgment of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the
  Beaumont Coca-Cola Bottling Company; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
