R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Beaumont Coca-Cola Bottling Company is |
|
commemorating the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, The local institution was established in 1907 by |
|
candy-store manager C. T. Heisig; sharing the candy-store location |
|
on Park Street, the company's equipment originally consisted of one |
|
foot-powered machine and two wooden tubs for washing bottles; and |
|
WHEREAS, Purchased by Charles V. Rainwater in 1911, the |
|
Beaumont franchise quickly grew and moved twice to accommodate the |
|
needs of its growing customer base; the business operated out of a |
|
plant on Mariposa Street for 54 years until it moved to its |
|
present-day facility on the Eastex Freeway in 1985; and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, the Beaumont company continues to benefit the |
|
business climate in Southeast Texas, making deliveries of over six |
|
million cases of beverages annually to more than 5,000 retail |
|
customers in eight counties and employing some 200 area residents; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, For 100 years, the Beaumont Coca-Cola Bottling |
|
Company has contributed significantly to the Texas economy, and all |
|
those associated with the company are to be commended for their |
|
efforts in behalf of this long-standing Lone Star business; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize April 12, 2007, as Coca-Cola Day in |
|
acknowledgment of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the |
|
Beaumont Coca-Cola Bottling Company; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
