R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The year 2007 marks the 75th anniversary of Texas |
|
|
Young Democrats, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity |
|
|
to pay tribute to this venerable organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Formed in 1932, Texas Young Democrats brings |
|
|
together high school and college students, youth leaders, and young |
|
|
professionals to take part in the political process as supporters |
|
|
of the Democratic Party; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The organization provides a forum for Texans to |
|
|
learn about politics, meet other activists, debate issues, and |
|
|
improve interpersonal and leadership skills, and many of its |
|
|
members have enjoyed distinguished careers in public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, Texas Young |
|
|
Democrats has been an energetic force in the political affairs of |
|
|
the Lone Star State; by urging engagement in public dialog, the |
|
|
group has forged stronger links between citizens and their |
|
|
governmental representatives and helped strengthen the rights and |
|
|
traditions that are the foundation of American democracy; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |

|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Texas Young Democrats on its 75th |
|
|
anniversary and extend best wishes to the organization's members |
|
|
for their participation in electoral politics; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Texas Young Democrats as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
