R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Firefighter Phillip Wayne Townsend of Denison died
  in the line of duty on December 30, 2006, at the age of 31, and the
  tragic passing of this heroic Texan has deeply saddened the
  community he served and all who were privileged to know him; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Townsend exemplified, in his personal and
  professional conduct, the virtues of courage, integrity, and
  unwavering dedication; and
         WHEREAS, Born on January 8, 1975, Phillip Townsend followed
  in the footsteps of his father, Larry Townsend, when he joined the
  Denison Fire Department; in addition to his work as a firefighter,
  he had previously served this state  and nation in the U.S. Army and
  had completed a tour of duty in Iraq; at the time of his death, he
  was studying to become a paramedic; and
         WHEREAS, Phillip Townsend was a passionate defender of life
  and property; although his years on this earth ended far too soon,
  the selflessness and bravery that he demonstrated throughout his
  service and the love he shared with his family and friends ensures
  that he will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Phillip Wayne
  Townsend and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
  to his mother, Sherry Richardson; to his father, Larry Townsend and
  his fiancee, Lori Harbour; to his children, Maddox, Tristen, and
  Rylen Townsend; to his girlfriend, Teresa Curtis and her daughter,
  Kassidy; to his grandparents, Cleda Richardson and Marvin and Helen
  Townsend; to his sisters, Stormy Sparks and her husband, Randy, and
  Lauren Walton; to his nieces, Deni Townsend, Keely Cornell, and
  Megan Sparks; to his nephews, Colby Cornell and Micah Sparks; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Phillip
  Wayne Townsend.
