R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Waco and the State of Texas lost a noted
  educator and innovative school administrator with the passing of
  Molly Maloy, who died on December 21, 2006, at the age of 60; and
         WHEREAS, Born to L. H. Maloy, Jr., and Minnie Alice McBride
  Maloy in Waco on November 5, 1946, Molly Maloy graduated from
  Reicher Catholic High School and went on to receive her bachelor's
  degree in teaching from Sam Houston State University and a master's
  degree in education from Baylor University; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Maloy began teaching for the Waco Independent
  School District in 1974;  promoted to serve as an administrator, she
  became principal of the Waco ISD Alternative School in 1983, and in
  the late 1980s, she moved to the principal's office at the Carver
  Sixth Grade School;  there, she implemented a specialized
  interdisciplinary curriculum for 1,000 sixth grade students,
  developed STARS, a program for overage, at-risk students, and
  oversaw Carver's transition to a magnet school; and
         WHEREAS, Moving to the secondary school level, Ms. Maloy
  became principal of Waco High School in 2000 and remained in that
  position until her retirement from Waco ISD in 2004; she closed out
  her career as the principal of her alma mater, Reicher Catholic High
  School;  and
         WHEREAS, This exceptional educator was honored with numerous
  commendations, including a YWCA Pathfinder Award and a Texas Mentor
  School Principal Award and was named the Waco ISD principal of the
  year, the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals middle
  school principal of the year, and the TASSP Outstanding Principal
  of Region 12; in addition, schools under her charge received
  numerous honors, including the Texas School of Excellence Award and
  the National School Change Award and recognition from the Blue
  Ribbon Schools and Texas Mentor School programs; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Molly Maloy
  will remember her as a dedicated educator who touched the lives of
  thousands of individuals, both students and teachers, throughout
  her stellar career, which spanned 32 years, and her innovative
  style and record of success greatly enhanced the quality of
  education in Waco-area schools; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Molly Maloy and extend
  deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her children,
  Amanda Bradley and her husband, Max Hernandez, and Stacey Abraham
  and her husband, Paul; to her grandchildren, Jillian Elise Abraham,
  Bradley Miles Abraham, and Sean Hernandez; to her sisters, Betty
  Davidson and her husband, Tom, Peggy O'Dell, and Penny Gifford and
  her husband, John; to her brothers, William and Michael Maloy; and
  to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Molly
  Maloy.
