R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Midwestern State University was accepted into |
|
|
membership by the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) |
|
|
in June 2006; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The COPLAC member schools are nationally recognized |
|
|
institutions of higher education that are committed to providing |
|
|
superior arts and sciences education to undergraduate students; it |
|
|
includes 24 universities and colleges from throughout the United |
|
|
States that are distinguished by their small classes, innovations |
|
|
in teaching, supportive environments, opportunities for personal |
|
|
interactions with faculty and faculty-supervised research, and |
|
|
cultural and intellectual diversity; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Located in Wichita Falls, MSU enrolls more than |
|
|
6,400 students in 16 undergraduate and nine graduate programs; it |
|
|
was founded in 1922 and is the only public university in the state |
|
|
to be designated a member of COPLAC; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An outstanding public liberal arts university, |
|
|
Midwestern State contributes significantly to the Wichita Falls |
|
|
area and all of Texas by providing its students an exceptional |
|
|
education; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Midwestern State University on its |
|
|
membership in the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges and |
|
|
extend to administrators, faculty, staff, and students sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for MSU as an expression of high regard by the Texas House |
|
|
of Representatives. |
